We focus on the home as a system and provide customized improvements that raise homes’ energy performance level to today's standards. Using building science technology, Powersmith Home Energy Solutions' specially trained and certified technicians perform a thorough home performance test, analyze the resulting data, and then we implement the residential construction solutions that meet our clients' needs.

POSITION OVERVIEW 

Crew members have primary responsibility for working on our home performance team to get jobs done efficiently and with high profit margins. 

We only promote up through our business and we are growing fast. Those who can establish themselves as great crew members will quickly have the opportunity to become crew leads and eventually residential energy auditors. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 
  • Construction basics: some level of trade experience is a MUST
  • Willing to work in confined hot or cold/dark places (attics and crawlspaces) for up to ten hours per day
  • Physically fit: Able to FIT INTO VERY SMALL SPACES (+/- 18” high). The best Crew members are LEAN and very strong: bike riders, rock climbers, swimmers, etc.
  • Able to lift at least 50 pounds 
  • Able to work in a full mask respirator for entire work days
  • Computer literate since our interview process, timesheets, benefits administration and company communication are done online and via email
  • Must have a bank account so direct deposits can be made bi-weekly
  • Superior verbal communications skills
  • Must have a valid and CLEAN New York Driver’s License in order to drive a company truck 
  • Able to pass a criminal background check and provide work references
Preferred: 
Ideally, the candidate will have at least one year of trade experience ( finish carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.) and an understanding of energy-efficient/green building practices. While extensive knowledge of building science is not required, it will become an essential part of the job, so you should be enthusiastic to learn how to reduce residential energy use. If you have no prior knowledge of building science, you must come to the job prepared to learn building science approved ways of doing installation work. 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP 

Crew Members report to a Crew Lead who acts as their mentor, trainer and manager.

COMPENSATION

Annual compensation expectation: $30,000.00 to $50,000.00 plus benefits. Compensation is comprised of: a base hourly rate, plus a monthly bonus. The bonus is based on a combination of your customer service rating score, profit margin, and job completion efficiency. Benefits include health care as well as 10 days paid vacation, 3 paid sick days, and 6 holidays.
